Is there an event you have to attend almost every weekend this summer?

Yes? Me, too! The question that instantly arrises is: “What am I going to wear?”

However, for the past three years, I have minimized the amount of clothing I purchase for myself drastically! Not only is this a great budgeting strategy, but it also helps our environment. Therefore, I now tell myself, “Shop your closet!” Also known as, my own personal Target!

All the clothing items I’ll be wearing to complete the three styles have been purchased at Target at different moments and have been part of my capsule wardrobe from one to three years!

Unfortunately, this Target sundress is now sold out.

I did however, want to refresh my wardrobe capsule this month with one new summer item and opted for this beautiful, breezy, versatile navy sundress from, you guessed it, Target and will show you how to style it for three different occasions!

1. Event: Brunch With Friends at the Wharf

Breezy and overcast mornings by the wharf are a normal occurrence, but it’s not long until the warm sun burns off the morning dew along the coast.

Meanwhile, being able to layer this lightweight sundress by Xhilaration with a long and cozy sweater by Merona™ is perfect. I’ve had this grey sweater since I was pregnant with my daughter three years ago (so many fond memories).

To keep my style beach-friendly a paired the flowy dress-sweater combo with these dainty black braided thong ankle strap sandals by Merona™. I’m so happy Target keep stocking them year after year!

I opted for a cool sun-protecting navy Panama hat for the afternoon stroll to our cars and a soft and stylish cognac-colored backpack by Universal Thread™ to complete my look for a brunch with my girl friends!

2. Event: Playdate With Daughter at the Park

The vibrant floral pattern on this midi length sundress made it easy to pair it with a matching rust-colored v-neck shirt by a•new•day™. Wearing a tee under a strappy dress is essential when you’re leaning over to speak with your child at their eye-level, or to tie their shoes. To add comfort, I paired this flowy dress with casual black slip-on sneakers by a•new•day™ to help me move and play swiftly and safely with my Ellie.

I’m still trying to implement the importance of sun protection to my daughter. She’s resisting all head gear with the exceptions of crowns haha. For now, I’m setting an example by wearing hats as often as possible, so she sees that I follow my own advice. I love this breathable neutral and classic straw sun hat with its girly blue pattern print ribbon surrounding the brim for aded color and texture!

I love being able to carry this squared shoulder bag by a•new•day™ that converts into a backpack when I’m with my daughter. It’s small, sleek, and deep enough to not only carry my essential, but hers, too, without having to carry a larger bag.

We all know that when we have more pockets the more unnecessary things we find to place inside of them! haha Isn’t that the truth?

Ellie and I had so much fun playing at the baseball field this afternoon!

3. Event: Date Night with Husband

One of the main reasons I was attracted to this Target sundress was the knotted bodice below the chest area and smocked-waist giving the sundress an extra flirty appeal to an otherwise casual dress.

For this reason, I knew it would be versatile enough to also wear to a date night with my husband!

The flowing and flattering shape makes me feel confident during the dinner date. Later, when it’s cooler at night, I am able to add this chambray shirt by a•new•day™, I purchased at Target a year ago in May, over the dress.

However, I did not want the relaxed-fit button-down chambray shirt to hide the sundress’ silhouette. To avoid this from happening, I simply tied the bottom corners of chambray shirt around my waist and this easily added a belt-effect to my waist, too! Win-win!

Flirty is the name of the game! These chocolate-brown mules by Universal Thread™ were not only the perfect color to compliment the navy and rust-orange florals on the sundress, but the squared-heel and height are my favorite for casual date nights. They’re cute and comfortable — I can definitely keep up with my husband’s long strides without a trip! 😉

This soft navy blue structured purse by Merona™ is one of my favorites! I just love the double-buckle detailing. I have been able to use this purse for date nights, play dates, and Target runs!

  1. This is awesome! I wish I had the creativity that you had! I simply look at my closet and have no idea what I want to wear… ever! 🤣 Thank you for sharing!

    1. Haha 😅 I know the feeling! Our mood definitely has a lot to do with how much creativity we have at a given moment! Sometimes I ask my husband for help! 🙋🏽‍♀️

  2. I absolutely love this. I was watching a tedtalk where the lady only had 15 items of clothing in TOTAL!! But she managed to make over 50 different outfits!

  3. It’s helpful to get ideas like this sometimes I struggle thinking out of the box I need photos 🙂

    1. It does take time to learn to be okay with less clothing, at least that’s what was the most difficult for me at first. 🙂 Totally doable!

    1. I totally agree. You did a super job of making three totally different looks, to cover all your bases and all the occasions! Looks fab.

      1. Thank you! The great thing is that I can keep making more outfits with the same idea, but with different colored tees and button downs and hats!

  4. Love all the looks! Great minds think alike. I have that same grey bag and its one of my favorites. Love how it turns from bag to backpack. That picture with your daughter is so cute!

    1. Yes! 🙂 The knot on the dress inspired me to knot the chambray shirt! I’m glad I liked how it looked. haha The white shirt looks great with your dress! & the bag/backpack conversion is everything! 💙 Thank you so much! She had fun playing with my sun hat, too!
